We are making our way through the last few weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during cool nights. Not much is worse than going to bed at night just to find out your furnace won’t turn on. If you find yourself in this situation, here are some things you can check yourself before calling Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters monthly. If you do not, they can become clogged, obstructing air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the heating system won’t turn on. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but make sure the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating systems use electricity so make sure the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch has not been accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you check all these things and your heating system will still not start up, give Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing a call at 866-397-3787 and we’ll come out and take care of you as soon as possible.
