When you want heating, cooling or plumbing services from Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing, you will pay for the trip charge and a diagnostic fee independently. Many companies you’ve worked with in the past most likely combined the trip charge and diagnostic fee, but we think we can offer you greater value by keeping them separate.
A trip charge handles the cost for a licensed plumber or HVAC technician to come to your home. Occasionally called a service call fee, this cost is the initial rate for delivering our technicians, equipment and expertise to your door. If you’d like to cut out the trip charges in the future, you can look into registering for one of our membership plans.
The diagnostic fee is made up of the services needed to find the source of a problem. In plumbing, this can be comprised of scoping. During HVAC repairs, it could involve taking a look at the inside of the cabinet. If you decide to use Service Experts Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing for the repairs, the diagnostic fee will be rolled into the repair bill. However, you will be charged for the diagnostic services alone if you choose not to.
In general, a trip fee includes sending the plumber or HVAC technician to your property, while the diagnostic fee addresses all the work involved in evaluating the problem and working up a plan for repairs. If you’re paying for repairs, you won’t even notice the diagnostic fee since it will be included with the cost of the repairs.
Some other plumbers and HVAC companies charge a single fee for both the trip and the diagnostics. Rather than charging you for two services together, we have two distinct fees. This allows us to price our services in the fairest possible manner.
