Service Experts of Raleigh Helps Man Go Above and Beyond for His Neighbor

June 29, 2016

Back in May, Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning of Raleigh accepted a call from a wonderful man named Jimmy from the Raleigh area who told us about a very exciting project he was planning for his neighbor Kyla.

Kyla Tracy is a sweet nine year-old girl who was born with Osteogenesis Imperfecta, sometimes referred to as brittle bone disease. She relies on a wheelchair to get from one point to another and her residence was not wheelchair accessible, due in large part to the size of the chair. When Jimmy learned about the issue, he thought about remodeling the Tracy family’s home to make it fully wheel-chair compatible. But because of the age of the home, remodeling was going to be more work than he initially planned. Looking for another way, Jimmy chose to try turning the Tracy family’s carport into a wheelchair friendly mini-suite, which would include Kyla’s own bedroom, bathroom, playroom, and kitchenette.

Thrilled to have a working plan, Jimmy started contacting local contractors, including plumbers, electricians, and building supply companies and they all said they would be thrilled to help and give their services and supplies. He contacted Service Experts of Raleigh for the heating and AC portion of Kyla’s new mini suite. Our Service Experts employees went over to find out more about the project and were in awe of how bright and friendly Kyla was and they determined they had to contribute.

Kyla’s father, Jared Tracy, said he expected to pay for the $12,000 HVAC systems for his little girl’s new living area, but with the help of Lennox and RE Michel, Service Experts was able to give Kyla’s family a bill that said:

“We are honored to present you with a total heating and AC system free of charge as long as we can all have a hug.”

The team at Service Experts of Raleigh were thrilled to help provide such a precious girl with a much-deserved place of her own that allows her to maneuver her wheelchair safety and efficiently. But it’s not over yet. The Tracy family is raising money to purchase a wheel-chair accessible vehicle to better transport Kyla and her wheelchair.
